Adjusting to Your New Multifocals
Is it normal for multifocal lenses to feel different at first?
Yes! It takes time for your eyes—and your brain—to adjust. Learning how to use the different areas of your lenses can take a few days to a couple of weeks.
Here are a few helpful tips to make the transition easier:
Wear your new glasses consistently—avoid switching back and forth with old ones
Move your head, not just your eyes, when shifting focus
Look through the top of your lenses for distance, the middle for computer work, and the bottom for reading if using a progressive lens design.
Practice during everyday tasks like walking around or reading
Keep your lenses clean and check that your frames are sitting comfortably
Get them adjusted if needed – An off-centered or tilted frame can throw off your visual zones so it is important to stop in at a local provider for custom adjustments.
